As part of us getting engaged, I’ve decided to make the home the perfect nest for our future. Part of my search has included buying a house. Check! We’ve done that. Dale and I have our dream house, but we still need to decorate it to fit our dream. I’ve gotten into the spring cleaning – ahem, starting with cleaning my mattress, the most integral furniture piece to maintain for a healthy and lively marriage – and you know why I mean that😉
So now I am on the search for a new king size comforter! We had a queen size comforter but we have decided that part of going forward in the world as a married couple involves having a bigger and more awesome bed. So a king size bed and king size comforter it is! It’s funny how we have moved up in the years – I remember in college snuggling up under a tiny full size comforter, barely having room for each of us. He says that over the years I’ve become a bed hog…imagine that! So as promised to my future husband, I am on the search for a king size mattress and king size comforter.
The fiance and I have been having sleep troubles. He snores while I toss and turn throughout the night. Rather than suffering while we sleep, the fiance and I have decided to try out a new memory foam mattress. Sleeping together may sound romantic, but as any couple knows, it’s not romantic to wake up tired and groggy. Dale and I are hoping our new mattress will change the way we sleep, so we DON’T have to think about getting separate bedrooms. Brendan is sick today so I making him some homemade chicken noodle soup. I’ve gotten the recipe from Table for Two and let me tell you: this is some of the best chicken noodle soup I’ve ever made! Super tasty, easy, and lucky for me, healthy🙂 Brendan loved it! This soup would be great to try with matzoh balls or dumplings.
I LOVE having things to nibble on when I’m working. I’m one of those mindless eaters who need something to chew on all the time. This recipe is PERFECT – pumpkin seeds are a snacky food that will satisfy my salt craving. Raid your spice rack and see what combinations you can come up with!
One of my biggest problems with healthy cooking is that things lack FLAVOR. With DIY Infused Olive Oils, you can add a bit of zest and spice to your favorite dishes. I am going to try this with pasta and salad dressings! I think a lemon-chili infused oil would be lovely!
I always get bored of water but find that sodas are too sugary and don’t fit in with my diet. Everything Fabulous has the perfect solution though: flavored ice cubes! She tried it with strawberries but I think you could try this idea with blueberries, raspberries, peaches, everything! I think this is a great idea to have with a lime wedge and soda. If your feeling naughty add a splash of vodka😉

Almonds, cooked oatmeal, bananas and yogurt meet up in your blender for a power breakfast. Drink this Banana Oatmeal Smoothie before your morning exercise routine and you’ll have the energy you need to get through your workout.
2 whole Chiquita Bananas (best with brown flecks on peel)
2 cups Ice
1/3 cup Yogurt – preferably Greek yogurt flavored with honey
Mix 3 cups whole nuts with 1/4 cup each flaxseeds, quinoa, and sunflower seeds. In a separate bowl, whisk 2 egg whites with 2 tablespoons honey, 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt, and 1/4 teaspoon each cayenne, cumin, and cinnamon. Toss with nut mix. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet; bake at 325 degrees until dry, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Scrape from pan while cooling, to avoid sticking. Makes 16 servings (178 calories each).
